Clamping shock absorbers include types such as hydraulic shock absorbers, auxiliary equipment shock absorbers and short shock absorbers. They are made primarily of resin, stainless steel and special steel. Twin-tube shock absorbers that use pressurized oil are an increasingly common type of hydraulic shock absorber. Auxiliary equipment shock absorbers support a wide variety of impacts with magnitudes ranging from grams to tonnes. Short shock absorbers can absorb rotational energy by deflecting up to 5 degrees. Shock absorbers need to be attached and removed carefully since the oil inside can leak out if they are scratched.
