End plates must also be used within a terminal strip that makes use of terminals of different sizes. This ensures the touch-safe requirement is met for live voltage components and that the terminals are touch-safe.

  · Ensuring the operating voltage: End plates can also be used to maintain the required clearance and creepage distances, in order to guarantee the rated voltage for the application. They can be used when cross-connections are used side-by-side.
